A selection of work dealing with ethnographic interpretations of the world around us.  Here I am primarily interested in the images of carvings, designs, masks and fetish objects made by indigenous peoples of Africa, Australia, North America, Papua New Guinea etc, along with prehistoric cave and primitive art of the world, fused with modern art therapy, children's artwork and so on - even international pictographic signage!  In my paintings the original symbolic language is diffused and worked into a modern image which renders these objects more as a personal work of art than implying any kind of magico-religious significance.

"Beginning #1" - acrylic on board 36" by 24"

"Dance Female" - oil on canvas 36" by 24" One of a pair - the other being a similar painting featuring 'male' symbolism

"Sausage Heads" - acrylic on wood 24" by 16"

"The sun goes to bed" - found objects, feathers, wire & mixed media in box, approx 20" by 8"

"Bird fleeing the Burning Forest" - acrylic on wood, 24" by 16"
